After a show in March in their hometown of Lawrence, KS and a show in Alaska cancelled due to volcano, the Get Up Kids reunion “tour” (which is actually just a couple shows and a couple festivals) kicks off tomorrow in San Francisco. As one of the most seminal rock bands of the last 10 years, and one of my favorite bands ever, I really do feel ashamed that tomorrow is the first time I’ll be seeing them live. Even worse, I had to actually pay real American money for tickets, as since they don’t have any new albums to promote or anything going on other than playing music to make some money, there was no way for me to scam my way in the door via a publicist or a record label. Karmic penance perhaps, for the idiocy of my youth, never making the trip to see them live, even on their advertised “Final Tour” a few years back. But regardless, I’m stoked. If you live in California you should be stoked too, because you have 3 chances to see those dudes play. Otherwise, you have to live in Belgium or New Jersey to get in on that shit. Here are the dates:
4.02.09 – Great American Music Hall in San Francisco, CA
4.03.09 – The Troubador in West Hollywood, CA (sold out)
4.04.09 – The Bamboozie Left in Irvine, CA
4.18.09 – Groezrock Festival in Meerhout, Belgium
5.01.09 – Blender Theatre @ The Gramercy in New York, NY
5.02.09 – The Bamboozie in East Rutherford, NJ
