The Making Of Thrice’s Beggars, Pt. 1
Posted on 20. Jul, 2009 by Dallas VonKillbot in Music
I, amongst select others here at the Synthesis laboratory, are super stoked on Thrice’s upcoming release entitled Beggars. Besides the fact I think Thrice consistently puts out very creative and compelling works, they’ve been updating their studio journal like crazy over the last couple of months, which has a crazy way of drawing you into the project possibly farther than you normally would be. Considering that their last effort, The Alchemy Index, was amazing, I’m really excited for this.
The album will be out October 13th, with the single [...]
The Return of Flipper
Posted on 23. Jun, 2009 by some guy in Music
By Jacob Sprecher
Flipper is one of those bands that most people will immediately hate upon first listen. But way back when in 1979, at a time when San Francisco was a musical hotbed busting with one of the country’s most notorious underground hardcore scenes, the group carved out a legacy by playing an amalgamation of punk rock that was altogether dissonant, raunchy and flamboyantly absurd. Flipper found ways to be anything but the norm by utilizing the shrill and hideous guitar work of Steve DePace atop the jive-like, wild cynicism [...]
3OH!3, If You Don’t Know, Now You Know

I feel privileged to have spent the last week on the 2009 AP Tour. Not just because it was a blast, or because I got to hang out with my good friends in The Maine and A Rocket To The Moon all day every day, or that I hung out with Damon Atkinson for a week (drummer for Braid and Hey Mercedes) or that I made new friends from Hit The Lights and Family Force 5, BUT because I got to watch 3OH!3 rock the fuck out every night [...]
Slayer and Marilyn Manson to Head Mayhem Fest.
Posted on 27. Jan, 2009 by Dallas VonKillbot in Music
Last year’s Rockstar Mayhem Fest. was pretty brutal: Machine Head, Mastodon and Slipknot headlined, as well as numerous other bad ass metal bands. Knowing he had his work cut out for him, Lyman (of Warped Tour Fame) set up an equally punishing tour, this time with metal legends Slayer and former touring partner Marilyn Manson are heading the pack.
Additional support is confirmed by Whitechapel, Black Dahlia Murder, Job for a Cowboy, Behemoth, Cannibal Corpse, God Forbid, All That Remains, and Trivium… damn. If you take [...]
Surrogate “The Fence” Live on Synthesis.net

As Video Matt cleans out his drawers and closets he’s coming up with all sorts of badass old footage: Fall Out Boy live at Warped Tour, Vaux, Dropkick Murphys, etc. My favorite so far of course, is the above vid of Surrogate playing “The Fence” live at Chico State’s BMU Auditorium. I wonder why that is….
Fearless Records Giveaway

Fearless Records is probably one of the sickest labels around, and we’ve hooked up with them to give you free shit in honor of this summer’s Warped Tour. Here’s what you get: posters from Fearless bands that are on Warped, CD’s from Alesana, Every Avenue, Mayday Parade, and Video Matt’s current band crush, The Maine. In addition, you can have as many of these damn Korn vinyls as we can give away… they make great frisbees. Check out this poster for everything I just told you, [...]

That chill ass California indie hip hop group (band?) that Video Matt spoke with at Warped Tour, that your girlfriend can’t stop listening to, that seem like some rad bros you’d totally kick it with… have a brand new reality show called Buzzin’ that airs tonight on MTV at 10:30 EST. Basically, those guys are going to be hotter than Miley Cyrus in Playboy. Good thing we actually did something right and lined up a bunch of content on Shwayze. Stay tuned for articles on DJ Skeet Skeet, as well [...]
New Artist: Shwayze!

Shwayze is a new, laid-back Malibu group. Shwayze and Cisco Adler (Whitestarr) have teamed up to record an album with some super catchy melodies, hip-hop style and acoustic guitars. Cisco produced the album and co-wrote the songs and the duo definitely hit the jackpot with their new single of the summer, “Buzzin.” They were named the “Artist To Watch In 2008″ by the Los Angeles Times and MTV will soon air a Shwayze reality show in July. The show will document the pair and their entourage as they put out [...]
