Dick Cheney’s Stunna-nunna-nunnas: Naked Woman in His Sunglasses? Not freaking likely.

I know you’ve been waiting on baited breath for Synthesis to chime in on the latest blog craze: “Is There A Naked Woman Reflected in VP Cheney’s Sun Glasses??? OMG!!!”
I’m no stranger to conspiracy theories (I even subscribe to a few myself), but let’s weigh the likelihood of the naked-lady-in-the-glasses theory in like this. Here’s what would need to happen:
1. Dick Cheney, hanging with a naked woman.
2. The hired photographer taking an official photograph of Cheney with a Naked Woman just hanging out by the side.
3. Secret security just hanging [...]
MXPX To Play Acoustic Set at My Apartment
Posted on 08. Apr, 2008 by ryan in Blog, Chico, Music
Not that this is necessarily a broad scoped piece of news, but nevertheless, I feel like trying to stack up some sort of credibility today. My apartment, in the Tower of the Senator Theatre in lovely Chico, CA, will once again play host to a slew of acoustic sets by touring bands. Tonight’s lineup will consist of OG Tooth and Nail punks MXPX, Vagrant Records badasses Protest The Hero, all followed by a set by The Color Fred.
For a taste of what the fuck I’m talking about, check out last [...]
Winning Hearts and Minds: Catlike Reflexes, Drunk, Live, and Destroying Socially Pink’s Song

I think SXSW broke my brain a little bit. When I got back and I had a show to play that week, I started brainstorming. The result was taking two pages out of the Tony Clifton playbook, one page out of Neil Hamburger’s, and a paragraph of Bill Hicks, and roll them into possibly the best show I’ve ever played.
Drunk Not Retarded by Catlike Reflexes
Half of the audience loved it. The other half was calling for blood. I don’t think I’m going to get invited back to Nick’s Night Club, [...]
Synthesis Band You’ve Never Heard Of…OF THE DAY!!111 – Ashley Alexandra Dupré AKA Kristen, Eliot Spitzer’s Prostitute Friend!
Posted on 12. Mar, 2008 by Daniel Taylor in Band of the Day, Chico, Crime, Lifestyle, Music, Politics
In an interview in today’s New York Times, the call girl behind the Eliot Spitzer scandal, known previously only as “Kristen” was revealed to be Ashley Alexandra Dupre, an aspiring R&B singer, as can be heard on her Myspace profile:
I am all about my music, and my music is all about me… It flows from what I’ve been through, what I’ve seen and how I feel. I live in New York and am on top of the world. Been here since 2004 and I love this city, I love my [...]
Synthesis Band You’ve Never Heard Of…OF THE DAY!!111 – K-Paz de la Sierra

For lunch today, Synthesis sales guru Cayle Hunter and myself headed down to a little burrito joint we frequent up the road called Amigos De Acapulco (highly recommended if you ever make it to Chico). The music they play in this restaurant is the type of OOM-PAH, keyboard driven Mexican polka, technically known as Duranguense, that they play in every burrito spot in California. Usually its pleasant enough but not really worth paying attention to. But today was different. Behind the usual heartfelt Spanish crooning and laughable synth-lines was [...]
Synthesis Band You’ve Never Heard Of…OF THE DAY!!111 – Deathstar
Posted on 06. Mar, 2008 by Daniel Taylor in Band of the Day, Chico, Music
I came across this video today while lurking for something the blahhg about, and it reminded me how much Deathstar ruled back in their late-nineties heyday. Back when noisy indie rock was still the new news, Deathstar was pwning Noise Pop in SF and buzzing like a cheap clock, churning out a couple dope releases – including a six song, self-titled 10″ and the Strikes the Earth EP- before imploding well before their time. Lurking moar I found a pretty good bio of the band on the Barnes and Noble [...]

The Coldest Week EVER.
Posted on 11. Feb, 2008 by Trevor Sellers in Music, Road Worn
This has been one of the busiest weeks of my life, and being in the snow day in and day out doesn’t help all that much. I have made some real life realizations, such as; Cleveland is a dump, the Super Bowl is a lot more entertaining when it’s spent with friends, is catered and a keg of Coors light is brought into the situation, kids from Canada have funny accents, I never want to live in a snowy city, kids in Omaha are insane and they love to [...]
