New Saosin Tracks
Posted on 01. Jul, 2009 by Dallas VonKillbot in Music
Two new Saosin tracks popped up on the net today as a result of their pre-order deal for their newest effort, In Search for Solid Ground. In all honestly, I think this slight glance into what’s going to be released shows a decent amount of progression from their self-titled record. “On My Own” is a perfect example of why people were bummed about their last full length; everything is very formulaic and safe. Their technical abilities are completely overshadowed by simplistic melodies and Cove’s sometimes questionable pronunciation of certain [...]
The Dandy Warhols ARE Sound
Posted on 07. May, 2009 by spencer in Music
Now free from Capitol Records, the Dandy Warhols can do whatever the fuck they want. Here’s to hoping they’ll want to put out some good new songs and play with my friends’ bands more. In the meantime, they’re re-releasing their fourth album the way the intended it.
Prior to the release of Welcome To The Monkey House, the band had been pressing for a version mixed by Russell Elavedo, a GRAMMY-award winning soul mixing engineer whose credits include D’Angelo’s Brown Sugar, The Roots’ The Roots Come Alive, Common’s Like Water for [...]
Saosin Live In Hurley Studio
Posted on 15. Jan, 2009 by Dallas VonKillbot in Internet, Music, Technology
Continuing the path so many artists are taking these days, Saosin is back in the Hurley studio recording tracks for their next full length. Like everyone else, I was not the biggest fan of their self-titled album, but the Grey EP (which was recorded in the Hurley studio with the streaming video feed) had some cool tracks on it, so I’m definitely giving these guys a second chance. Head on over to the Hurley/Saosin page to check out the recording process and chat with the guys.

The More That Things Change: Records Are the New CDs
Posted on 08. Sep, 2008 by spencer in How's Business, Music, Technology
So it’s more than obvious nobody cares about CDs anymore. Technology waits for no man, and with new advances that threaten older formats every day it was only a matter of time before we moved from vinyl records to 8-tracks to tapes to CDs to MP3s to…vinyl records.
Not one to sleep on vinyl’s resurgence (considering their iconic office building was created to look like a stack of records…), Capitol Records are on the move to re-release your favorite albums of yore on vinyl. Remember when you replaced your Pet Sounds [...]
Hang On To Your Ego! Brian Wilson Returns to Capitol Records with “That Lucky Old Sun”
Posted on 19. May, 2008 by spencer in Music
As I mentioned last month, with the exception of a few (a very few) newer artists like Coldplay, Capitol Records is banking on their roster of time-honored pop rock heavyweights (read: Dinosaurs) to pay the bills. Enter Beach Boys’ backwards beating brain and ticking heart, Brian Wilson.

NEW STUDIO ALBUM, ‘THAT LUCKY OLD SUN,’ TO BE RELEASED SEPTEMBER 2nd
“You don’t have to climb the Capitol tower, or play the Hollywood Bowl, if there’s a roll in your heart, [...]
