So anyone who still reads this blog-which is probably limited to people who work at Synthesis, people used to work at Synthesis, and their immediate family-already knows that the rock band known as Surrogate is the best fucking band in the whole world. OBVS.
Gift Cards at Charter.com

Considering that I have neither a home phone, any sort of cable television service or internet access (not counting occasionally stealing a weak signal from a neighbor), I figure it’s as good a time as any to talk about this blog page’s sponsor, Charter Cable and, more specifically, Charter’s Free Gift Card Sweepstakes and Charter’s Twitter page.
The Deal: Charter Cable is giving new and pre-existing customers a chance to win gift cards in this merry month of May. And there’s no obligation to buy. As Bill would say: [...]
Adventures in Mallville
Posted on 02. Apr, 2009 by Daniel Taylor in Chico
ome years ago, in an ill-advised attempt to put the carrot on a longer stick, I moved my base of personal operations from my barside Downtown flat to a quiet countryside condominium deep in Mallville. I still ended drinking just as much, it just made closing time a lot more interesting, like a choose-your-own-adventure book: “to choose to walk the 5 miles home, turn to page 32; to sleep on your office couch, turn to page 35; to spend $13 on a cab, turn to page 41.”
The Economy Is Falling! THE ECONOMY IS FALLING!

News is circulating the web of two companies hit hard by the falling economy. First off is Motorola, who I’m surprised is still in business at this point. I mean honestly, have they put out a single product that people got stoked about in the past 2 years? I guess right now they’re trying to market a clear topped flip phone… fucking brilliant idea.
Motorola will further reduce its workforce in 2009 by approximately 4,000 positions. This reduction will include approximately 3,000 positions associated with the Mobile Devices business and approximately [...]
Music Shops Inside Best Buy? Guitar Center is Pissed
Posted on 31. Jul, 2008 by spencer in Music
It was announced Tuesday that Best Buy, your big box destination for DVDs, crappy CDs and home electronics, will soon be selling guitars, drums, amplifiers and other musical accouterments…you know, things young people used to care about. I personally don’t see myself buying some shitty Jay Turser SG knockoff from a guy in khaki slacks and royal blue collared shirt, but hey, I’m probably not their target audience (which is presumably kids coming into the store with their moms and all of a sudden deciding that they want a [...]
Wal-mart Backs Blu-ray
Posted on 15. Feb, 2008 by James in Technology
In what will probably the beginning of the end of the HD DVD format, Wal-Mart, the world’s largest retailer and architects of the Deathstar, has joined Netflix and Best Buy in backing the Blu-ray high-definition DVD format. To be fair, poor HD DVD really never stood a chance. The format was backed by Toshiba, while Blu-ray has Sony — and it’s library of 4,000,000,000 films (estimated figure) — in its corner.
According to Wal-Mart’s resident blogger (I wonder what that pays) Susan Chronister:
“So … if you bought the HD player [...]
