Oklahoma House Rejects The Flaming Lips’ “Do You Realize?” as Official State Rock Song. Someone needs to vote out some gray-hairs.

The Oklahoma House has rejected the classic Flaming Lips song “Do You Realize??, Pt. 1″ from Yoshimi Battles the Pink Robots
as the state’s official rock song, reportedly because bassist/engineer Michael Ivins wore a t-shirt with a hammer & sickle to the state capital.

Hey, isn’t Russia supposed to be our ally now?
You can vote to make Oklahoma seem less idiotic here. Right now they’re losing pretty badly.

BUT WAIT! There’s more! From News OK:
Update:
Gov. Brad Henry announced Thursday evening that he will sign an executive order on Tuesday naming the Flaming [...]

Blink-182 To Reunite… Kinda

Posted on 05. Feb, 2009 by Dallas VonKillbot in How's Business, Music

Rumors have been floating around various message boards (ok, just Absolute Punk) for quite some time now speculating the return of pop punk monsters Blink-182.  After Travis Barker’s near death experience in the tragic plane crash, odd man out and former Blink guitarist Tom DeLonge started talking to his former members again.  Since then, we’ve been constantly hearing little blurbs about the band getting along and talking frequently, which is all well and good in it’s own rite.
The big wrench in the gears has been this constant back and forth [...]

Metallica’s Death Magnetic To Hit Stores September 12th

Metallica have sucked fucking dick since …And Justice For All but maybe Rick Rubin told them to quit fucking whining, check out of rehab and start pounding enough Jaeger to help them write riffs in standard-E that still sound heavier than anything nu-metal ever fucked with. Doubtful? Yes. But nevertheless, there’s still hope.
Metallica have announced their tenth studio album, Death Magnetic, will be released globally on Friday, September 12th.
News about Death Magnetic has been flowing out of Metallica’s camp via the band’s official website (www.metallica.com) and a brand-new site, missionmetallica.com, [...]

Anticon Records’ Why? Announces Tour Dates

My first introduction to Anticon Records was from someone who absolutely HATED what they were putting out. This, sadly, colored my opinion for some time; that is until my cousin (currently studying international law at Harvard…so I’ll have someone to represent me once I finally get caught for my various illicit activities I enjoy so liberally) burned me a mix CD of some of their artists. It was then that I figured out that Anticon isn’t quite the self-important backpack hip-hop label my friend made them out to be [...]

Bloodbath – Unblessing the Purity

I haven’t really fucked with metal since my career as a late-90s high school stoner jock came to an abrupt end. But ever since Synthesis Marketing Idiot and overall coward Cayle Hunter moved into the desk next to mine I’ve been getting a crash course in the latest badass deathcore and Scandanavian metal bands. Shit like White Chapel, Salt the Wound and probably my favorite yet, Bloodbath. Something of a Swedish metal all star band, Bloodbath wouldn’t even know where to find a fuck, let alone how to give one. [...]
