SXSW 2008: Day One Video Recap

Posted on 12. Mar, 2008 by Daniel Taylor in Music, SXSW, Videos

Here’s a video montage of the Synthesis.net crew’s first day in Austin, TX for SXSW 2008. In it, you’ll see how shitty the outskirts out town are on the way from the airport to downtown, how badass Ironworks BBQ is, and how even on the night before the official start of the music fest, there are more parties and bad ass bands to watch while getting completely black out than you can shake a fucking stick at. Subscribe to our YouTube channel and you’ll be sure to be hearing, and [...]

SXSTFU: An Introductory SXSW 2008 Blog

In the coming days you’ll most likely want us to STFU about SXSW, so I’ll keep this introductory South By Southwest blog brief. For those unfamiliar, SXSW is a music festival in Austin, TX where music industry professionals and semi-professionals from around the globe come to schmooze, ink deals and drink as much free alcohol as possible while seeing some of the largest (and smallest) bands play in some of the smallest venues. For instance, one of 2006’s highlights was seeing the Flaming Lips with about 250 people.

SXSW 2008 Pregame

SXSW is without question both the busiest and best week of the year. We arrived late afternoon today (Tuesday) ready to start drinking Lone Stars, eating BBQ and working our collective asses off getting tons of content and meeting virtually everyone there is to meet.

SXSW 2008 looks to be better than 2007 (not that SXSW 2007 sucked or anything) since Red Bull is back this year with the Red Bull Moontower (at SXSW 2006 the Red Bull House stole the entire show). Now we really don’t know what’s going [...]

Samantha Power: Hilary Clinton may actually be a Monster, but nothing is off the record. Obama Aid Resigns…

From the BBC:
“The Scotsman newspaper quoted Ms Power as saying: “She is a monster, too – that is off the record – she is stooping to anything.”
Obama Adviser Samantha Power Resigns, but it’s too early in the morning to process politics. Before my first cup of coffee, I thought in terms of spin:
Sam Power is a Pulitzer Prize winner – certainly she knows nothing is off the record — especially juicy quotes — and this episode of her resigning is a highly calculated move. It shows Obama taking the moral [...]

Synthesis’ SXSW 2007 Highlights

In anticipation of next week’s SXSW media blitz, here’s a clip of our highlight from last year.

Actually, my highlight was the cathartic releasing of the bats underneath bat bridge, but hey, maybe i was just tired and feeling a bit emo.
