Away We Go
Nettwerk
The soundtrack to the new motion picture, Away We Go, is full of ups and downs. A majority of the album’s songs are performed by singer/songwriter Alexi Murdoch, who delivers straight-forward, down-tempo folk tunes. After every few cuts, we’re treated to tracks from other artists such as Bob Dylan’s “Meet Me in the Morning†and the Velvet Underground’s “Oh! Sweet Nuthin.’†Murdoch’s songs are similar to each other, sometimes changing it up with a strum rather than finger picking, but it begins to sound like one long movement, though having other artists dispersed throughout the album keeps it chugging along. I’m sure this soundtrack works well when put to the movie but, as an album alone, it fulfills the role of decent background music. Nothing too special here.
