Now kids, didn’t your mother ever tell you not to believe everything you hear on the news?
I think with today’s ease of access to Photoshop and video-editing software, this goes double for the Internet. In case you haven’t heard, thanks to a hoax video making the rounds on YouTube, people everywhere are under the mistaken impression that hip-hop producer Suge Knight is under arrest for the murder of Tupac Shakur. While you Tupac fans out there may still be looking for answers about his death, keeping looking. The truth isn’t nearly so scandalous. The video was cobbled together from a series of unrelated news bulletins and sound clips edited to make it sound as if a reporter is confirming the allegations. According to CNN, Knight’s Dec. 4th arrest was actually for failing to appear in court for a traffic violation. While he may have a pretty menacing beard, as far as we know, Knight’s just another bad driver. Poor guy. I’m not sure this falls under the celebrity “no such thing as bad publicity” mantra.
And to those tech wizards out there responsible for this whole incident:
Now kids, didn’t your mother ever tell you not to frame people for murder?
