Scion Music Festival=WIN

Although I hate it with all of my heart, the stuck-ups over at Pitchfork post some good stuff every now and then. Today’s offering is the line-up for this year’s Scion Rock Fest in Atlanta, which is featuring the best set of metal bands out of the scene right now (minus the fact The Sword and Killswitch Engage aren’t on it). The headliners are Hotlanta’s own Neurosis and motherfucking Mastodon for God’s sake, and the fact that Synthesis favorites High On Fire and Torche are on the bill doesn’t hurt too much either (if you haven’t picked up the last Torche record yet, you’re sucking at life pretty hard).

To boot, the festival is entirely free. FREE. It’s pretty much what Ozzfest was going for in 2007, except instead of trying to mask the fact the tour had a shitty line-up by getting Fear Factory to play they actually took the time to put together a cohesive bill. I’m sure the waters, shirts, beers and drugs will be severely overpriced, but hell, beggars can’t be choosers. Sweet props to Scion for putting on a rad show, and sweeter props for whoever made the poster for the show… a wolf with blood on his mouth scouring the streets of some post-apocalyptic sprawl?  FUCK YEA!

If you’re in the the Atlanta area sometime around Feb. 28th, go rock out with the best there is.
