PJ Harvey Confirms Two US Concert Dates

Polly Jean Harvey

PJ Harvey is kinda rail thin and weird looking, but when I hear her voice or see her murdering souls on stage, my palms get all sweaty. Maybe I’m a freak. In any case, I’m stoked to hear that her new album, White Chalk, will be due out on Sept. 25th. Those of you in NYC and LA should be stoked that Polly Jean will be taking the stage for two special one-off dates in October. The first at the Beacon Theatre in NYC on October 10th and the second on October 15th at the Orpheum in LA. Full press release after the jump.

PJ HARVEY CONFIRMS TWO EXCLUSIVE U.S. PERFORMANCES
OCTOBER 10 AT THE BEACON THEATRE IN NEW YORK
OCTOBER 15 AT THE ORPHEUM IN LOS ANGELES
WHITE CHALK OUT SEPTEMBER 25

PJ Harvey has confirmed two exclusive one-off U.S. solo performances to coincide with the release of her eighth studio album, White Chalk, out September 25th on Island Records.

The shows will take place at the Beacon Theatre in New York City on October 10th and The Orpheum in Los Angeles on October 15th and will feature the U.S. live debut of material from White Chalk as well as material spanning PJ Harvey’s career.

Tickets for both shows go on-sale on Friday September 7th.

No other U.S. dates are planned at present.

Early reaction to White Chalk from the U.S. press has been phenomenal. ROLLING STONE reacted to first single “When Under Ether” with a four star review, calling it an “incredibly eerie piano ballad” that “bodes extremely well for the rest of White Chalk,” while NEW YORK magazine cited White Chalk one of the most anticipated releases of the fall.

White Chalk is a departure from previous PJ Harvey studio albums in that it was written on piano. White Chalk was produced by PJ Harvey with Flood and John Parish, the three of whom previously worked together on the GRAMMY-nominated To Bring You My Love and Is This Desire?, and includes musical contributions from Harvey’s long time associate Eric Drew Feldman, and Jim White from The Dirty Three.
