Girl Play

2005-10-20

Girl Play is a film of realistically depicted lesbian relationships that become complicated when the protagonists are cast in a play together. Robin Greenspan and Lacie Harmon star as the actresses who deal with the confusion of deciding where the affection of their characters in the play ends and their true personal feelings for each other begins. They also had the job of adapting their original play into this film. The ladies spend a good deal of time addressing the camera with exposition-revealing monologues, giving Girl Play a two-woman-show feel. While the monologues were a bit tiresome for the film format, Girl Play was an enjoyable watch and the surprise casting of Dom Deluise as the play’s director was a gas.
