Yes, he’s getting up there in age and he doesn’t have the wind he used to. Yes, he’s probably going to play mostly his “hits,” and less of his obscure songs. Yes, the tickets are probably going to cost too much. Yes, some of his musical arrangements may border on muzak.
Still it will all be worth it. Leonard Cohen is a national treasure whose songs will be remembered for centuries. If you live on the East Coast, fancy yourself a music enthusiast and do not make every attempt to see this show, you have failed at life.

January 13, 2009, New York , NY – For the first time since 1993, Leonard Cohen will perform in the U.S. on February 19th at The Beacon Theatre in New York City . For one night at the 2,800 seat venue Leonard Cohen will perform the show that earned more than 80 five-star reviews during his fall 2008 UK and European tour. Tickets will go on sale beginning Friday, January 16th at 9:00 AM.
The poet, singer/songwriter and novelist’s intense and complex explorations of spiritual, interpersonal, romantic and political themes have resulted in a life’s work that has impacted countless contemporary recording artists and writers.
Throughout 2008, the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductee’s return to live performance in Canada and Europe has been met with extraordinary and unanimous accolades. Cohen is currently performing limited engagements in Australia and New Zealand.

I would have loved to see this show and was at my computer to buy tix at 9AM Fri morning. They were sold out before they ever reached the public. They were completely cbought up my ticket resalers. You can now buy a Lenard Cohen ticket, orginally $65- $250 at the Beacon, for $188- $600. I am writing a complaint to NYS Depart, but ticket resalers are online outside of state jurisdiction. I am just spreading the word. It also happened with Morrisey a month ago. No tickets at the orig price. This is a scourge.
