Kittie
In the Black
e1
Since the conception of the band in 1997, the Lander sisters have watched several guitar and bass playing babes come and go. Hopefully, Kittie are able to hold onto their most recent guitarist, Tara McLeod, because she definitely knows her way around a fret board. Coupled with double-bass drums, the guitars make a big backdrop for Morgan Lander to alternately growl and sing over, the latter of which could be her best yet. In the Black shows a smidgen of Kittie’s moodier side with the contemplative instrumental opener “kingdom Come†and a brief intro to “Falling Down.†It would be an interesting contrast to the band’s usual fast, heavy music to hear just a few more introspective passages throughout the album. In the Black should make Kittie fans happy but it’s not crucial listening.
