Doomriders
Darkness Comes Alive
Deathwish
Every so often a band like Doomriders come along who properly represent old school hardcore while still adding a nice modern edge, keeping things fresh. Doomriders feature the savvy veteran experience of Nate Newton (Converge) on guitar and vocals and J.R. Conners (Cave In) beating the skins as displayed on “Knife Wound.” A great attribute that Darkness Come Alive possesses is the ability to blend hardcore punk with traditional metal riffs; “Crooked Path” contains a verse of straightforward head-bobbing rock which shifts gears to a bridge of well-played dueling guitar harmonies and dark lyrics: “Winds of hell blow/Guide my way home/Never set me free.” A recommended download would have to be “Lions” for the raw power and fury it unleashes.
