Admittedly, I’ve never had the pleasure of attending the Coachella Music Fest.; it’s been one of those things I’ve really wanted to get around to, but prior engagements are always in the way. This year I’m pretty sure I’m available for it, but the without any kick-ass bands on the bill, it’s not worth the fuss.
On that note, the preliminary round of bands and DJs has been released, and I can’t really say that I’m too impressed. I realize this is the first of many updates, so I’m not too worried.
The Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival will take place April 17-19 at the Empire Polo Field in Indio, California. Last year, concertgoers were treated to a special performance by Prince. Who will leave fans salivating this year? Take a look at the following rundown of confirmed and rumored artists to see when you should start placing your bets.

To be fair, I have been wanting to see Girl Talk for years, and I’m sure The Killers and The Hold Steady put on a cool show. What’s more interesting is the buzz around who’s supposed to be there. Rumors are floating around like crazy, with notible acts Morrissey/The Smiths, Red Hot Chili Peppers, OutKast, The White Stripes and Niel Young being talked about as headliners. Also on that list of rumors is Israli badasses Monotonix, whom this office is obsessed over.

If The White Stripes don’t pop up on the bill, I’m guessing that The Raconteurs will show up there. Additionally, people are suspecting that Muse and/or Jack Johnson will be popping up, but again, it’s all speculation. If anyone has any inside knowledge, drop it in the comment box.

These artists are not “officially” confirmed. The only way to know if these artists are really playing is when GV announces the lineup, and even then until you see them live at Coachella ’cause changes are always being made.
