Two weeks ago, I found, to my shock and disbelief, that my checking account had been bloated to a balance of $650,000 instead of the usual few hundred. New York has the highest cigarette tax in the nation and it is continuing to grow. They are calling it a success because the number of calls to the state’s Smoker’s Quitline quadrupled when the $2.75-a-pack tax took effect, damn. They are trying to give New York smokers multiple reasons to stop and these ridiculously high prices would do it for me.

Victoria Gotti Gets Sued

Victoria Gotti, daughter of the late Gambino crime family boss “Dapper Don” John Gotti and reality television star of “Growing Up Gotti” has been sued by HarperCollins Publishers. The company gave Gotti a $70,000 advance for her memoir that was never written and the money was not returned. Gotti signed a contract with HarperCollins in 2005 to publish two books, one of which was her memoir.
