Neutral Milk Hotel Wants You To Help Save the Paragon Carousel
Posted on 30. Apr, 2009 by spencer in Art, Lifestyle, Music
Me, I think Neutral Milk Hotel are a fantastic (and sadly disbanded) band. Now, if they asked me to jump off a bridge I would decline, but if they asked me to help save a historic carousel, I would at least register my vote in favor. The Paragon Carousel has a chance to win a grant to save its existence. It needs your mouse clicks.

The Paragon Carousel is a beautiful machine that has been my dear neighbor for many moons. Now 81 years [...]

Oklahoma House Rejects The Flaming Lips’ “Do You Realize?” as Official State Rock Song. Someone needs to vote out some gray-hairs.

The Oklahoma House has rejected the classic Flaming Lips song “Do You Realize??, Pt. 1″ from Yoshimi Battles the Pink Robots
as the state’s official rock song, reportedly because bassist/engineer Michael Ivins wore a t-shirt with a hammer & sickle to the state capital.
Hey, isn’t Russia supposed to be our ally now?
You can vote to make Oklahoma seem less idiotic here. Right now they’re losing pretty badly.
BUT WAIT! There’s more! From News OK:
Update:
Gov. Brad Henry announced Thursday evening that he will sign an executive order on Tuesday naming the Flaming [...]
Word of the Day: Wenis
Posted on 21. Apr, 2009 by spencer in Art
Wenis. I assumed my girlfriend was just being weird this morning when she playfully bit my elbow referred to it as my wenis. Wenis? Really? I’d never heard such a thing. I had to investigate.
First stop, one of my favorite Web sites, Merriam-Webster. Result: inconclusive.
Next stop Wikipedia, the BE ALL END ALL for knowledge as we know it…a link so some ancient Egyptian God (apparently also a character on Star Gate…)
At this point I could have been convinced that my girl was just messing with me. But furhter investigation was [...]

One of the neat things about editing the Syntheis Weekly is that I get a first-had crack at the action before the paper even hits the streets. Last Friday I was proofing Mad Bob Howard’s column, and he referenced a fellow “outsider artist” (aside: something about the term “outsider art” or “outsider artist” makes me cringe, and therefore, encase it in quotes like some sort of literary specimin) by the name of Jonathan Troxler.
Easter is one of those bizarre holidays – quasi-religious, quasi-pagan, entirely alcoholic these days. It has [...]
Saucony: Number One With A Bullet

Right now I’m checking out new kicks, and given my well documented infatuation with Saucony, plus the fact that they’re feeding the dragon, I’ve been looking into their more recent designs. While I still favor the 1981 designed Jazz model, I’m kinda digging the sleek Bullet track shoe series.
Sweet kicks, huh? For shits and giggles: http://www.saucony.com/originals
