Bobby Birdman
New Moods
Fryk Beat
There is something truly special about Rob Kieswetter’s, aka Bobby Birdman’s, current record New Moods. “Only For A While” begins with beats not unlike The Cure’s “Close To Me,” but instead supplies a glow and shine that is perhaps reflective of the warm weather of Los Angeles, where Birdman resides. In this track he states what so many humans may ponder: “I know what I want but only for a while.” “Dust Design” follows with nasty electronics, sway appeal, and spoken raps which serve as a sort of indie answer to Beck’s Midnight Vultures. Another refreshing track is “Silent But Violent,” an a capella number which serves as a nice, relaxing breather in the middle of New Moods. This is much more than just a pop or folk album; it’s an exploration and celebration of music!
