This is definitely going to be interesting: The creative forces behind Smashing Pumpkins, Cheap Trick, Hanson and Fountains of Wayne are coming together to form a new act, Tinted Windows. At first glance, you’ll probably write off the group with statements like “Really? Hanson, the dudes who wrote ‘Stacey’s Mom’ and that Asian guy from Billy Corgan’s old band?!”. Taking another look, you realize that Fountains of Wayne has a devout little following, Cheap Trick are a seminal classic rock band, Hanson’s newer material is pretty good and James Iha is a brilliant guitarist. Upon third look, you’ll realize I’m hyping this up way too much, I’m a crappy wanna-be hipster writer and I’m reaching way too far for this. Let’s see what credible journalists say about it:
Best/Worst Supergroup Ever= Tinted Windows,Former Smashing Pumpkins guitarist James Iha, Cheap Trick drummer Bun E. Carlos, Hanson’s Taylor Hanson and Fountains Of Wayne bassist Adam Schlesinger have formed a new band, Tinted Windows.
The group has recorded its debut album at Stratosphere Sound Studios in New York, which Schlesinger and Iha co-own with Ivy’s Andy Chase. The set is expected this spring on a label to be announced.
Tinted Windows will play its first major show at Billboard’s South by Southwest showcase, to be held March 20 at Pangaea in Austin, Texas.

I love Hanson, but are they changing genres? I read a great review of Go on EverHype (www.everhype.com/?utm_source=bc) and their team of reader reviewers gave it 4 stars and called it “Great.†I read that Hanson was also coming out with a new album – is it going to be more rock and less pop?
