I feel privileged to have spent the last week on the 2009 AP Tour. Not just because it was a blast, or because I got to hang out with my good friends in The Maine and A Rocket To The Moon all day every day, or that I hung out with Damon Atkinson for a week (drummer for Braid and Hey Mercedes) or that I made new friends from Hit The Lights and Family Force 5, BUT because I got to watch 3OH!3 rock the fuck out every night for a week straight. A week before I left to meet the guys in Las Vegas, I picked up “WANT”, the latest 3OH!3 album. I figured I might as well listen to it because up until that point all I had heard was “Don’t Trust Me” on the radio and TV. I found a handful of songs on the album catchy and pretty damn gangster for 2 white guys, but not necessarily something I would listen to. However, when I saw them for the first night at the House Of Blues in Vegas my mind was blown. When the 6’7″ Nathaniel Motte and model-esque looking Sean Foreman came out I had no idea what to expect. Their show surpassed any expectations I could have ever had. Regardless of how you feel about their music, they are entertaining and fun performers to watch. After seeing them that first night in Vegas, I was interested to meet and hang out with them just to see what type of dudes they were. Once again, they surpassed any preconceived notion I could have had of them. They are both funny, down to earth and smart as hell. They both met in college in Colorado, and with the college thing under their belt, why not just become rock stars right? Nate was accepted to medical school which he obviously declined, and is now making kids dance all across the country and selling out the AP tour almost every night. If you happened to A) miss the AP Tour when it came to town or B) you didn’t like any of the bands on the tour AND you are planning on going to Warped Tour this summer, I would highly recommend going and checking out 3OH!3 who will be there all summer. I can say with a very high level of confidence that you will not be disappointed.
