Mike Huckabee: Epic Douche

You know, you would think that there’s a certain point at which one’s head couldn’t fit any further up their own ass– but you’d be wrong. Mike Huckabee, former Republican governor of Arkansas, proved all of us wrong by demonstrating the limitless head-up-the-ass lengths a person can go to earlier this week. He made the very public, very ridiculous choice to bash Oscar-winning actress, Natalie Portman, and the entire population of single mothers, stating:

“Most single moms are very poor, uneducated, can’t get a job, and if it weren’t for government assistance, their kids would be starving to death and never have healthcare.”

Only to try and backtrack later on his blog, by writing:

“I was asked about Oscar winner Natalie Portman’s out-of-wedlock pregnancy. Natalie is an extraordinary actor, very deserving of her recent Oscar and I am glad she will marry her baby’s father. However, contrary to what the Hollywood media reported, I did not ‘slam’ or ‘attack’ Natalie Portman, nor did I criticize the hardworking single mothers in our country. My comments were about the statistical reality that most single moms are very poor, under-educated, can’t get a job, and if it weren’t for government assistance, their kids would be starving to death. That’s the story that we’re not seeing, and it’s unfortunate that society often glorifies and glamorizes the idea of having children out of wedlock.”

Hey, here’s another statistic for you: 41-73% of marriages, depending on which one you’re going on, end in divorce. So, what about all the single mothers who were once married and divorced, having to raise a child on their own– like my mother? We were never homeless, hungry or ever depended on the government for any type of assistance; she had an education and held down more than one job at a time. But thanks for the degradation. It’s a sad day when individuals in positions of power write off the hardest working people in America. So, I only have two things left to say:

1. Why not mention Bristol Palin, daughter of a fellow former Republican governor, who has absolutely no relationship with her baby’s daddy– except for the very public trash that often pops up in the tabloids?

2. Just focus on removing your head from where it ought not to be – and leave Hollywood to me, asshole. I think I can speak for Natalie Portman, my mother and all the hard-working single mothers of America when I say, FUCK YOU!

This quote is true, you can’t argue that.

He is not arguing about “married then divorced” as they did not raise that kid as a single mother… they had a father with them for a time during the child being raised… (then the mom got the house)

    bawhaha

I’m a staunch republican and I say we as republicans don’t want a Mike Huckaby to run in 2012. I think the liberal media is pushing him in the front so we can sink into a deeper depression by letting Borack Hussein Obama take another term in oval office. There are better options for us Republicans out there so don’t buy what the liberal media is selling.

We should put Herman Cain up there. A black man who knows his stuff. That way the republicans can show liberal media were not a bunch of racists. I hate to say it It will probably take a black man to beat a the snake oil salesman Obama in this next election. You want a black President in Office who won’t make a fool of our country. Vote for Herman Cain!!

Myself, I don’t care whether the pres is black or while, but he should be able to get the job done. Herman Cain has the experience to get the job done.

If the stubborn media pushes people to the point where Obama stays in office, we probably won’t make it another 4 years.

As much as I don’t like this, and he said it in such a manner that is insulting, it is mostly true that many single mother are “under educated” but that does not come from choice.

Much of each issue he raised are not connected. What about the many single mothers that were unable to finish high school because they had a child and didn’t have any help? The ones on state assistance so they can go to school? The ones on state assistance because most jobs will not hire them because they are single mothers? (yes this does happen)

Frankly I’m annoyed that state assistance makes women social pariah, because it is there for a reason. Yes indeed this reason may be abused, but the statistics state that most of mothers on state assistance are not abusing the system on purpose. What kind of urban myth are we perpetuating here which is damning every impoverished single mother out there. The system has to change to allow single mothers equal opportunity, equal rights in the work place and out.

GET OVER IT! state assistance will continue for single mothers until people get there heads out of there asses when talking about single mothers. Furthermore, where are the many single mothers out there when it comes to defending each other and our choices? Why can’t we make a change for each other and the rest of the women that will go down this road? 26 percent of our population with families are single mothers and this number is rising. We are a very large reality and population in this country it’s time that we got recognized and treated with dignity rather than hatred and derision.

I dare anyone to approach me about being on state assistance while I’m frantically trying to put myself through college with no family to help me. Just try and damn my choice for having my child. Oh and did I say I’m also an honors student. Again, GET OVER IT! single mothers are here to stay if you don’t like it than stop having sex. After all it’s not just the mothers fault for getting busy it takes two to tango! If you think I would put my son up for adoption your insane because than I would be dealing with emotional issues all my life and that would be another damning feature as a women, now I have emotional problems to cope with. Of course there is always abortion well… I’m not even going to go there. Every argument I’ve heard against my predicament I have an equal counter argument, so piss off.

I am non-partisan and think Huckabee is an idiot. But, do you really think any president regardless of his political standing will ever do anything for you? Maybe, but never in my life has any president done anything that effected my life directly in any positive manner.

Funny… I’m not a single mother by choice but yet I’m worthless because I am. It’s rarely mentioned about the deadbeat father’s who have forced us into this position. You can say all you want about single mother’s but when you’re getting all your comps and your kickbacks and taking money that belongs to the people, don’t give me grief for busting my ass and maybe asking for help every once in a while so that my children don’t end up on the streets or worse. As for assistance, this country is so flawed that unless you are one of those worthless single “Parents” not willing to do anything but take from those who do try, you can’t get help… I make too much money to qualify but not enough to pay my rent and my car at the same time but I’m still expected to feed and clothe my children and pay my bills and all the stupid taxes that you impose on me. I have worked since I was 15 yrs old and even served my country but what does that matter to anyone all they see is a single mom, again NOT BY CHOICE, who is falling behind on bills and asking for a handout. Never once did anyone bother to look at the fact that I am still working still doing it alone and still dealing with dumbass silver spoon bastards who have no clue of me or what I’ve gone through…

I am a single mother of a two year old boy, and I am very shocked and disappointed not only by the comment of Mr. Huckabee, whose supposed calling is to represent the interests of the citizens (including single mothers) who mistakenly elected him. In my opinion, these kinds of generalizations are made by people who although well-educated, lack intelligence, common sense, class or empathy for anyone who is not a white male with an income over 100,000k. It is unfortunate that politics has become such an insulated world that people like Mr. Huckabee do not see reality anymore or remember their place as public servants . . . not fanatical naysayers motivated by greed and power. There is no excuse . . . . and those of you who believe or try to defend this rhetoric are just as bad. You all owe all these mothers an apology, even the ones who use food stamps.

    Sincerely,

Summer – “A well-educated and employed Attorney, who is not on public assistance, who cooks dinner every night and takes her child to the doctor regularly” – single mom.

  10. Dominie K. Robinson says:

If a wealthy mother or single mother chooses to stay home with her children, she is praised as a “wonderful attentive mother” but if a poor single mother expresses that she wants to be home with her babies, and if she is on any type of public assistance she is castigated as a “welfare slob” or worse. Thing is, BOTH mothers want the same thing. Disparities and double standards are rampant in society today. I friend of mine up here who loves her children and is one of the hardest working women I know personally WAS working two jobs, 80 hours a week to support her children with NO help from the father. Welfare wanted her to attend their “welfare to work ” “program” or they would discontinue the assistance she WAS getting. She tried to explain to them if she attended their “welfare to work” program it would mean taking time off the two jobs she already had so they “discontued” her and siezed her 5000.oo Income Tax return . Now is it the struggling, hardworking, single mother that is the problem here OR is it the totally callused, backwards “system” that literally punishes people for being poor in the first place ???

  11. Dominie K. Robinson says:

“Give a man a fish, feed him for a day, Teach a man to fish, feed him for a lifetime” is a very true statement. ANY mother who has been on welfare or public assistance for ANY length of time KNOWS welfare is NOT the place to be. It’s humiliating, degrading, and forces one to scrape by on a sub-poverty level. But what needs to be examined are the backwards policies that KEEP the welfare recipients at a sub-standard level. If she’s on assistance, she’s not allowed to have a savings account. She NOT allowed to own ANYTHING of any real value, IF she does earn any money or do anthing to better herself, it is counted against her in her “benefits”. I’ve SEEN it too much. Whether the single mother works, OR gets Welfare, she is in for a LOOONG Haul either way.

  12. Dana says:

If this country didn’t hate women in the first place, being a single mother wouldn’t be a death sentence for the mom or the kids without public assistance. If we were treated the same as single dads and as married parents of either gender, you’d see those other differences vanish almost overnight. A single dad, too, will get help with his kids because everyone sees him as a freaking hero, feels sorry for him and offers to help. But the whole reason those kids exist in the first place (because it’s not like cisgendered men can get pregnant) is treated like garbage. If I thought we’d all go for it I’d suggest we all got our tubes tied and that none of us have children again until this country gets its collective head out of its collective butt. The only thing America hates more than women is immigrants–and if we suddenly had to rely on immigration to keep our population stable you better BET the right-wingers would change their nasty tune.
