On my daily stroll through Faux Fox News today, I saw a little link that was in a sea of "Obama Is Power Crazy" and "Democrats Are Nazi Zombie" posts that looked like it could use some attention. I clicked the little guy, and came to a delightful read about how Halliburton was bribing the Nigerian government for private contracts north of $6 billion. The fine for the crime was around $402 million.
For those of you who don't know, we call that illegal. Now if only we could get Cheney in jail for turning the company into the governments own private oilfield service so his stock would skyrocket...
The former subsidiary of Halliburton pleaded guilty Wednesday to charges of conspiring to bribe Nigerian government officials in exchange for contracts worth more than $6 billion.
The Department of Justice announced that Kellogg Brown & Root (KBR) agreed to pay a $402 million criminal fine as part of a plea agreement.
The construction and engineering firm was accused of participating in a decade-long scheme to bribe officials for engineering, procurement and construction contracts, part of an effort to build liquefied natural gas facilities in the African country.
Under the plea agreement, KBR also agreed to be monitored for three years.
