I apologize if you've already seen this list, as it's about a month old; it's been a crazy holiday season and I'm just getting around to checking out everyone's best of 2008 lists. I just found Pitchfork's list, and it's safe to say it's almost exactly what you would expect.

Sticking to the 'Hipster Top Records Guidelines', they pretty much hit every point of being full of themselves I can think of.

They threw in the mandatory "We're based around indie music, but to prove we're in touch with society here's a mainstream rap artist that we have a deeper appreciation for than you" spot on the list, being Kanye's 808's and Heartbreak at number 21.

They threw in the "Amazing album that should have been placed better on the list but wasn't, because you're favorite albums don't compare to ours", which was (of course) Girl Talk's Feed the Animals at number 35.

They threw in the "Mandatory Vampire Weekend in our Top 10" spot, with (none other than) Vampire Weekend at number 7.

Stupid hipsters... Here's the top 10:

10: DJ/rupture
Uproot
[The Agriculture]

09: Hercules and Love Affair
Hercules and Love Affair
[DFA/Mute]

08: M83
Saturdays=Youth
[Mute]

07: Vampire Weekend
Vampire Weekend
[XL]

06: TV on the Radio
Dear Science
[4AD/Interscope]

05: Deerhunter
Microcastle / Weird Era Cont.
[Kranky]

04: Cut Copy
In Ghost Colours
[Modular/Interscope]

03: No Age
Nouns
[Sub Pop]

02: Portishead
Third
[Island]

01: Fleet Foxes
Sun Giant EP/Fleet Foxes
[Sub Pop]

Well, I guess it's not that bad, considering Deerhunter, Portishead and TV on the Radio rounded out the top. I'm probably just bitter that I don't work for Pitchfork.
