wow.. I'm sorry you're so offended by the fact Christianity exists. I don't understand why you're so bent on trying to bash Christians. Have you even read the Bible? Maybe you should take a look at it. You may find some interesting things in there. As a matter of fact, try to disprove something in there by historical, factual means. Bet you can't! What other book has lasted so long without a single element being proved wrong by PHYSICAL fact? And don't throw that "evolution" theory at me. You say carbon dating can prove that, but if they say something is x-million years old, what do they actually have to compare the carbon dating to? Check out the Bible if you want, but if you don't have a legitimate reason to hate Christians, why be so aggressive with your opinions?

I think its a brilliant idea, if your not Christian then, no, you are not going to like it much. But its a good positive way to help kids and adults worship easier whilst having some simple fun. I dont see any Christian wanting to use it to kill someone, i think you need to relax a bit my friend.

"Again, this is a BLOG site; we’re not the New York Times, we are a narcissistic, critical bunch of bastards here. "

ummm I apologize for intruding on your fun. I see that you are having fun and I mistook it for a REAL attack on Christianity when it was just comments about the radicals involved in Jesus Camp.

As for Christian music it is just a difference of opinion. Some people like the old Hymns (I don't care for them), some people like modern music and some hate all of it.

You know what they say about opinions. Again I only wanted to respond to your comments but obviously I show have looked around at the content of this site before wasting my time.

Scott,

Have you visited this site before? Maturity usually doesn't run ramped through this part of the internet (search our blog site for the words 'this is my face when I read this blog'). Again, this is a BLOG site; we're not the New York Times, we are a narcissistic, critical bunch of bastards here.

Innovative Christian music, you say? Like This Beautiful Republic, Jeremy Camp, Remedy Drive, etc.? Damn, I thought it was bad when the likes of POD and Switchfoot were hitting the mainstream.

Last, no. I don't give a flying fuck about the Guitar Praise thing, I saw it and chuckled a little bit, and decided I should comment on how pathetic it is for the company to try to put out a rock and roll themed video game (rock, metal, etc. which the premise of the originals exclusively tailor to sex, drugs and satan)... but that's besides the point. As I stated before, no, the point was to make an excuse for me to drop the Jesus Camp link in, which along with http://www.zeitgeistmovie.com/, is a very informative documentary and hopefully a wake up call to those of you who get your daily news from the soul suckers over at FOX.

Last, professionalism? Maturity? Ha. Try http://img.4chan.org/b/, they're a little more tolerant and understanding.

@Dallas:

1. Umm that is a shortsited opinion... So "Christian rock has to be the least creative genre in history, being that the subject matter is all identical (expected) AND the music itsself never progresses… " ummm have you heard the rest of the music in the world... It has gone to the point of having a TV show picking a kid who can halfway sing and giving them a record deal just so they can sell a bunch of CDs to people they know will buy them. Come on as an example country music is either about someone cheating, lying, or a dog dying... Who is it that you are actually talking about in the Christian music industry? Do you have any names... I actually listened to secular music in many genres so I know what I am talking about. (But I guess you can just google some names to make you point)

2. And the world right now is not sheep for going out buying every iPod, every gadget they can? Yes I am Christian, I was about the most secular, scientific, hard nosed person you could imagine. Not any more. If you look at it from a purely logical point of view... You live your life how the world wants you to and when you die, if God does not exist, then you just become one with the dirt... If God does exist and you lived by the worlds standards of lying, cheating, and stealing you go to hell. If you are a Christian following God then when you die, if He does exist then we go to heaven.. If He does not exist the worst thing you do is be a good person. So in either case being a Christian pays off more than not whether God exists or not. Don't get me started on proving He does exist...

3. Yes, Rock the Light for one... I have been to several events some hosted by my large (not quite mega) church. I have been to individual Christian musicians, group performances, and the youth conferences held at my church. I listen to TobyMac, Red, Kutless, Jeremy Camp, 12 Stones, Newsboys, but I also listen to some secular music like Nickelback, Evanescence, and some Linkin Park.

4. Not quite sure where are going with this... Don't really care.

I am simply asking can you keep you opinions of Christianity seperate from your opinions of the product shown... A little professionalism, a little maturity...?

For the record, no, I haven't purchased the game, just got the press release. Yes, in case you didn't figure it out yet, the post was geared more towards Christian music being trash and the 'knocking' of organized religion, not much to do about the game.

Why would I do such a thing and link the two together? That's for me and the Lord to know.

Scott,

1.The fact is that, as Hank Hill put it when talking to some Christian rocker, "You're not making Christianity better, you're just making rock and roll worse". Christian rock has to be the least creative genre in history, being that the subject matter is all identical (expected) AND the music itsself never progresses... it's tired themes cast abound God metaphors. The music itsself has never became anything more than the shallow pop roots it began with.

2. Calling me "lost" is a funny thing to say in the given context, being that the last paragraph I posted a link to Jesus Camp. My point of linking that movie was to hopefully turn people onto the Evangelical's current plots to infuse people blindly following religion; not based on their own love and faith but because it's 'the right thing to do'. Religion becomes such an excuse for everyone these days. The Bible constantly refers to the people of faith as sheep, and I don't think it could be more fitting than in today's settings. Christianity in the US is just that: sheep following the leader around without thinking for themselves. Watch the documentary, see the plots, see the links to infusing religion and government.

3. Have you ever been to a Christian rock concert? Forget Jamestown, that shit is a cult on it's own. An old girlfriend of mine dragged me to a huge show in Sacramento's Arco Arena, and I swear that I've never seen so many hopeless souls in one place, just begging someone to give them some peace of mind so they can blame something else for their shitty lives, divorced marriages, affairs, depression, etc.

OK first let me say, WOW what an intellectual... Basically you played the game and because it was christian themed you hated it and it should be stopped immediately because of copyright laws. Ummm Ok let's see how many spin-offs and knock-offs have there already been. Guitar Hero is working on it's 5th or 6th incarnation, Rockband is releasing its second there are tons of cheap version that you plug into the PC or directly to a TV... I saw someone playing guitar "champ" on their cell phone a couple days ago. So again you're only complaining because it is CHRISTIAN themed.

In my own course of not wanting another Christian themed version of the game, I have personally requested (via Harmonix and Activisions websites) that several Christian Rock songs be added to RockBand and Guitar Hero but I have yet to recieve a response. I can only guess they don't see it as time well spent. So therefore someone (a company based on making christian themed entertainment) has designed one and licensed the music etc...

As for "who would possibly want this"? I know several kids that would rather have a knock off guitar hero like game that plays GOOD modern christian songs rather than old classic rock that they don't know and don't want to listen to because of the theme or language.

And then there is just the fact that you through in your opinion of Christianity on top of a video game review. Not only are you unprofessional but shortsighted and lost.

My question is why did Google pull up this as news? All it did was inform me that there are a lot of stupid people out there that can't write a news article and others that post messages about how they think religion sucks.

"Why doesn’t the government separate the Church from State and everyday business life already"... Umm, the first amendment. Freedom of Religion. 'Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof'. It’s also the same amendment that allows the writer of this blog to post his ideas.

"Harmful effects of Christianity"... I haven't been harmed by Christians. Did the surgeon general come out with a new warning that I’m not aware of?

Wow, I cannot believe the quality of this blog post. I am an atheist and also dislike the harmful effects of Christianity, but your reasoning is poor. Believe it or not, many Christians actually enjoy Christian music. Why do you think Christian rock music is so popular? Who would want Guitar Praise under their Christmas tree? Christians.

I can't believe that I have to explain the following to an adult: Just because you do not like something does not mean that everyone will also not like that something. We learn this wisdom during childhood. If you can't understand this basic fact, what do you believe qualifies you to publish a blog other than the fact that you own a keyboard and an internet connection? Stop polluting the Internet with nonsense.

This is not copyright infringement, as Guitar Hero IV is copying RockBand (but making it better). I too dislike the mega-church (a single place of worship whose congregation is excessively large) movement and "Jesus freaks". I do believe in God and Christ, but why the hell do we have Jesus "Sheeple" trying to force their beliefs upon others and involving every aspect of life with religion?

On another note, I will once again be praying for New Orleans.

I beleive most here are getting off-track. This is not a religous issue but a copyright issue. This product is an obvious rip-off of some one elses hard work. Why it was even allowed to be marketed shows a clear cut example of selective prosecution in this country that is becoming more and more previlant. Seperation of church and state does not exempt crooks from being crooks.

while i agree with you, this is a very badly written article. Please grow up. And some people are really into christian rock, there is even a concert series in my hometown just for christian music. Yes, i don't like the music, but it's here and it's here to stay. So if you don't like it then avoid it.
